EKO Cyprus Strengthens Strategic Partnership with the Fire Service

EKO Cyprus Strengthens Strategic Partnership with the Fire Service

As part of its corporate responsibility and in recognition of the vital role played by the Cyprus Fire Service, EKO Cyprus, a subsidiary of HELLENiQ ENERGY, is enhancing its strategic collaboration with the organization. The company is providing state-of-the-art surveillance tools, land and sea rescue equipment, and sponsoring the participation of firefighters in international training programs. This initiative not only boosts the operational readiness and responsiveness of the Fire Service but also uplifts the morale of its members, who feel their invaluable contributions are recognized and supported through tangible actions.

Under the slogan "Uniting Forces with Energy for Life," EKO continues to support the Cyprus Fire Service through a comprehensive framework of initiatives. The strategic partnership is built on three key pillars: providing resources and equipment to the Cyprus Fire Service, enhancing infrastructure through the training of its officers, and educating citizens to prevent the outbreak of fires.

More specifically, EKO Cyprus has delivered additional equipment to address the immediate needs of the Service. In response to the growing phenomenon of natural disasters caused by extreme weather conditions - an issue increasingly affecting Cyprus and the rest of the world with severe consequences - EKO has donated an inflatable rescue craft along with vital equipment such as life jackets, helmets, gloves, and specialized suits. This rescue equipment is deemed essential for the rapid and effective management of emergencies, including the evacuation of individuals in danger or other accidents occurring in seas, dams, rivers, or urban areas during floods.

EKO Cyprus has also provided the Cyprus Fire Service with two comprehensive sets of rescue equipment, each consisting of six specialized tools, sufficient to meet the needs of two cities initially. The company aims to procure and deliver an additional three sets of equipment to cover the needs of the remaining cities.

Additionally, EKO Cyprus has donated two state-of-the-art unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to strengthen the Fire Service’s capabilities in fire prevention and the management of potential hotspots that could escalate into major fires. This donation includes not only the drones themselves but also training for their operators. Once delivered, certified trainers will train members of the Fire Service to operate the drones effectively, maximizing their potential in fire detection and suppression.

Furthermore, EKO Cyprus is sponsoring a training program for a total of eight officers at the Fire Service College in the United Kingdom, recognized as the world’s leading provider of education for firefighters and other specialized rescue and emergency service units.

At the same time, and with the aim of educating the public, an awareness campaign is being conducted in three distinct phases, with messages aimed at preventing fires caused by Easter customs and fireworks, avoiding wildfires primarily in mountainous areas during the summer months, and preventing fires stemming from Christmas decorations, fireplaces, and heaters in the winter.

Speaking about the donation, Mr George Gregoras, CEO EKO Cyprus, stated:
"Through our corporate responsibility initiatives, we consistently stand by the Cypriot community, its environment, and the natural wealth of our country. By delivering this equipment to the Fire Service, we acknowledge that their mission often exceeds human limits. With our contribution, we aim to support the work of the Fire Service’s personnel, equipping them with the necessary tools to save yet another forest and yet another human life. We are confident that this equipment is in excellent hands and will be utilized in the best possible way to protect our homeland and its people."
